The growth of the ‘green’ economy is amazing. What started small years ago has grown into a real force. Companies are aware of making their products environmentally friendly and advertising to this segment of the population. This trend has made its mark on mutual funds too.
All funds that have criteria other than economic factors are lumped into the category of Socially Responsible Investments (SRI). According to The Trends in SRI investing in the US Report, SRI funds grew 18% percent in asset versus 3% for the broader market from 2005-2007. Most of this growth has come from green SRI funds.
